Small Business Logo Design

SUMMARY – A successful logo is simple and representative of the company it stands for. I have worked with several business to create their company logos. Designing a logo on the computer is only a small component of the process; research and preparation often takes the majority of the time. Despite the simplicity and small size of the final product, designing a logo can be a surprisingly complex process.
TASK – Create logos for a variety of businesses including a skincare brand, a medical practice, a children’s book series and more.
PROCESS – The first part of the logo design process involves a Design Brief – a discussion with the client about the company’s goals, target audience and visual aesthetic.
- After the design brief, I then perform some cursory market research on the company and its competitors. This also helps to get a sense of the target customer’s vision of the company.
- During the brainstorming and conceptualization stage – keywords related to the company and its product or service are identified and the draft production process begins.
- Several drafts are presented to the client, and the approved draft is brought to life with the addition of color and detail. Based on feedback from the client, this is then tweaked until the logo accurately represent the client’s wishes.
RESULTS – The client is presented with the final approved logo in a variety of file types that can be used for various outputs.
